Capital Improvement Projects

In the spring, Anchorage Office of Management and Budget sends a list of potential Capital Improvement Projects to each of the Community Councils and asks them to prioritize their needs for funding. The Councils, in turn, ask their members to help with setting priorities for spending funds from municipal bonds and state and federal grants.

32nd Avenue Upgrade Project + Cherry Street drainage. Reconstruction of East 32nd Avenue, from Muldoon Road to Brookridge Drive, was mostly completed in fall 2012; landscaping was done in summer of 2013. Cherry Street drainage and reconstruction from 32nd Avenue to 36th Avenue was done in summer of 2013.

Pioneer Drive Upgrade Project Improvements to Pioneer Drive received a legislative grant for construction costs in 2013; project was completed in October 2014. Parking for Chugach Foothills Park was expanded from eight spaces to 25 and the flower gardens were moved from the median to the park and a new median between the parking lot and the street.
